On 4 November 2022, Martens Rechtsanwaelte hosted the second conference for users of the Basketball Arbitral Tribunal (BAT) and other interested parties. After the welcome address from the BAT President, Dr. Ulrich Haas, head of case management at BAT, Dr. Heiner Kahlert presented developments since the last User Conference. The panel of 5, namely David Menz (moderator), Ntimi Papadopoulou, Luis Cassiano Neves Metin Abut and myself were discussing on how to further reduce time and cost of BAT proceeding. The panel discussion was followed by Dr. Haas presentation on ideas for the future of the BAT, Filipe Souza's presentation on FIBA regulations vs. pacta sunt servanda, Laura Martinkute's presenation on BAT jurisprudence on Verwirkung, and finally Juan de Dios Crespo Perez's dialog with Benjamin Schindler from FIBA with regard to FIBA's assistance in securing the honouring of BAT awards.
